Architect and Urban Designer

ONE Architecture and Urbanism, NYC is seeking an Architectural and Urban Designer with 3+ years of professional experience. We are looking for self-motivated and nimble architects excited about design at all scales. The right candidate must be passionate about climate, sustainability, and the design of the public realm.

ONE Architecture and Urbanism is an internationally renowned planning, urban design, and architecture practice specializing in large-scale climate adaptation planning, resilient infrastructure design, and public architecture. Based in New York and Amsterdam, the firm has a unique approach that integrates diverse organizational, climate, and urban issues into a single design process that allows for bold and inclusive transformations of our environment. This candidate would be joining the Architecture & Urban Design team in New York City.

Responsibilities

• Work on spatial design concepts for coastal resiliency, urban transportation, public open space and architecture projects in New York City
• Work with senior and intermediate team members to develop design alternatives, visual representations, and detailed documentation
• Collaborate and coordinate with a wide-range of disciplines and project partners, including marine, civil, and structural engineers, transportation planners, landscape architects, as well as other architects
• Produce clear and graphically compelling presentations describing design options and trade-offs for both clients and community groups to facilitate multi-stakeholder decision making
• Make physical study and presentation models

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Inquisitive, creative, and willing to take initiative
• Strong interest in the workings of our cities and the production of the public realm
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of low-carbon and sustainable construction approaches.
• Strong digital modeling and visual representation skills
• Experience with graphic software skills such as Rhino, CAD, Enscape, ArcGIS, QGIS, Grasshopper, Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience with design documentation using Autodesk software
• Dependable, reliable, and a strong work ethic
• Experience in building physical models using digital tools such as 3D printing and laser cutting
• Experience on publicly-financed projects and/or NYC government entities a plus
• Relevant professional accreditation or licensure a plus

Qualifications

• Professional degree in architecture or landscape architecture
• 3+ years of full-time experience in within an architecture, landscape architecture, or urban design practice

Pay & Benefits

This is a full-time in-office position, with an option for flexible remote working days. The expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 to $85,000 based on ability and relevant work experience. Benefits are offered immediately from the commencement of employment: including medical, dental, and vision programs; 401(k) plan; commuter benefits; paid holidays including one week of office closure in December and flexible PTO.
