About Us:

The Architect’s Newspaper (AN) has shaped architecture culture for over 20 years. Seven annual print editions are trusted sources for architects, designers, building professionals and intellectuals. Each issue collects breaking industry news and offers insightful commentary, critique and project previews—led by editors with both a critical eye and a sense of levity.

The Role:

Currently, we're seeking a self-driven editorial intern with excellent writing and communications skills as well as an enthusiasm for architecture and design. We write news daily for web and print coverage of the ins and outs of our field for an audience of professional architects, builders and designers, as well as art and design enthusiasts around the world. Applicants should be ready and excited to pitch new stories at weekly editorial meetings, write news-style coverage daily, and assist with print production of physical newspapers monthly.The ideal candidate is a current student or recent graduate in a related field of journalism, communications, or media studies; or, architecture, design, and urbanism.

You will work from AN’s New York office in Tribeca four days a week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Writing articles for archpaper.com and aninteriormag.com
  • Pitching and researching stories in our weekly editorial meeting
  • Assisting with administrative tasks
  • Reporting on and attending industry-related events and conferences
  • Website input and maintenance, including uploading and styling online content

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior writing experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and Adobe (Photoshop, primarily)
  • Interest in architecture and design
  • Ability to work in a self-directed, research-forward environment
  • Interview skills and experience

Salary/Compensation

The position is at the the rate of $16 per hour.
