Description
This individual is responsible for providing leadership and participating in preliminary studies and estimates of proposed building projects, and in the design and preparation of new buildings, renovation of existing buildings, oversight of construction, related furniture, fixtures, and equipment, move-in, and the associated warranty period. There will be a variety of project types and sizes and the individual will lead more complex capital projects that may also require interactions and coordination with the University System of Georgia Board of Regents Office of Real Estate and/or the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission. The individual will provide leadership to the project and the project design team consisting of architects, engineers, designers, and construction professionals. As this position acts as the liaison between the design team and University departments, faculty, and staff, this employee should be an excellent communicator. This employee will be responsible for meeting project budget and schedule requirements and managing expectations accordingly.
Preferred Qualifications: Ten years of work experience as a licensed architect. Prefer experience in design and execution of projects for higher education or private sector research laboratories and support spaces as well as higher education instructional laboratories.
